Soon after I upgraded to Ubuntu 12.04 LTS my laptop started to randomly hang when shutting down. After a bit of investigation I discovered it would only happen when I'd ran Eclipse, specifically my Android profile. I then noticed that the ADB (Android Debug Bridge) daemon was still running after I'd shut down Eclipse. If I killed the process manually then Ubuntu would shut down fine.
I'm yet to find a fix for this issue, I've made sure I've got the latest version of the Android SDK Tools installed just in case but the bug still exists. I've also discovered that it happens to a co-worker as well. If your an Android developer and your PC is hanging during shutdown check your ADB daemon isn't still running too.
